This light spinnaker was last used in the Offshore Racing Councils’ European Championships which took place in Porto Carras, Halkidiki, Greece in 2016. A difficult race that saw competitors brave unusually strong squalls on the first or second day along with light and really fluky weather for the long offshore coastal racing the race was marred by an Italian crew who spectacularaly cheated during the weigh-in of their boat.
The Nautical Club of Thesalloniki ran these European Championships in a venue that has hosted and amazed sailors from around the world for the last 40 years. As the locals proudly say, there is no home like Halkidiki.
